Pianist and Educator
Dr. Andrew Boyle received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Southern California with the internationally renowned conductor and pianist Jeffrey Kahane. He has won first prize in the Gail Newby Concerto Competition, Tucson Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition, and the Arizona State University Concerto Competition. He has also won second prize in the USC Concerto Competition, third prize in the Jacob Flier International Piano Competition in New York, and was a semifinalist in the Virginia Waring International Piano Competition in Palm Springs. In masterclasses, Andrew has had the privilege of performing for Anthony Newman, Jonathan Biss, Philip Kawin, Faina Lushtak, as well as ensemble coachings with the Juilliard String Quartet and St. Lawrence String Quartet. In addition to solo playing he is an avid chamber musician and has performed extensively with cellist Keith Williams as a part of the Boyle.Williams Duo. He is also passionate about improvisation: he has recorded a jazz album with vocalist Grace Roman and has studied eighteenth century classical improvisation and partimenti with Tobias Cramm in Basel, Switzerland. His master's degree is from Rice University with Robert Roux and his bachelor's degree from Arizona State University with Robert Hamilton.
